As music was expanding and being revolutionized all over the world there came along a genre of music that stunned everybody which was "gangster rap".
This new music genre portrayed images of gangs, guns, violence and sexism, yet it was well received and became very popular in the span of just a few years. By the early 1990's, gangster rap had a home at the top of the charts."
Snoop Dogg was a major influence on the genre of gangster rap. He had song titles "10 Lil' Crips" and "Crip Hop".

The lyrics in rap songs are often related to gang violence and endorse a criminal or 'gangster' mentality to their listeners. Most rappers are in gangs, in relation with gangs, associated with violence, domestic violence and many are ex-offenders."
Lil Wayne is another major influence on gangster rap and still relevant today. He had song titles "Blood Niggaz" and "I'm Blooded".
